Dr. Mari Winkler is a Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Washington, Seattle, USA. She earned her Ph.D. from TU Delft, The Netherlands, in 2012. Her diverse research encompasses energy efficient wastewater treatment technologies that consume minimal areal footprint, the bio-based economy, and the utilization of bacterial-fungal-plant interactions to develop a novel biofertilizer aimed at enhancing crop growth. Additionally, her work focuses on human gut microbiome–centered drug development, aiming to create therapeutics that remove toxins from the gut.
