A previous study by Baker A et al (JAMA 2023;177(3):240–247. Doi:10.1001/jamapediatris.2033.5258) demonstrated quite clearly that a 6-week course of intranasal mometasone furoate was as effective as intranasal saline for the treatment of symptoms of obstructive sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) in children. Both nasal sprays resulted in the resolution of symptoms in approximately 40% of participants. There was no control group, but previous smaller studies suggested an effect of both interventions.
