Molecular mechanisms of Aflatoxin B1-Induced renal injury and the detoxification potential of Taraxasterol: A review

Aflatoxins (AFs) are secondary metabolites produced by toxic strains primarily parasitising Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus within the Aspergillus genus. Exhibiting potent carcinogenicity, they are widely detected in foodstuffs, animal feed, and grain crops, predominantly contaminating maize, wheat, millet, sesame, rice, figs, spices, peanuts, oats, nuts, cocoa, legumes, and their processed products, posing significant threats to public health in both humans and animals [1].
