Endocrinologists gather at ECE 2026

In May, >4,500 endocrinologists travelled to Prague, Czechia, (or joined online) for the 28th European Congress of Endocrinology (ECE 2026).

The conference began with the European Journal of Endocrinology Award lecture, delivered by Marco Medici (Erasmus Medical Center, Netherlands). Medici spoke about the advances that have been made over the past few years in our understanding of the genetic factors that affect thyroid function, and how that knowledge could be used to develop polygenic risk scores. Staying with the theme of genetics, Anna Gloyn (Stanford University, USA) gave the Transatlantic Alliance Award lecture, outlining how understanding the diverse genetic factors underlying diabetes mellitus is leading to the development of precision medicine approaches.
